Position:

Senior Manager, Media

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and analytically strong Senior Manager, Media to own and drive full-funnel media planning across digital and offline channels, with a strong focus on digital performance. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a complex, regulated environment — building media plans, managing budgets, evaluating channel performance, and optimising campaigns end-to-end within the pharmaceutical industry. The role has day-to-day coordination responsibilities, working closely with internal brand and marketing teams, agency partners, and regional stakeholders to ensure media activity is compliant, effective, and aligned with our client’s commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Funnel Media Planning

  • Support the end-to-end media planning process across the full funnel — from disease awareness and HCP engagement through to patient support and conversion
  • Develop integrated media plans spanning digital and offline channels, ensuring coherence across touchpoints and alignment with brand and regulatory objectives
  • Translate brand and medical marketing briefs into channel-specific media strategies, with clear rationale on channel mix, budget allocation, audience targeting, and timing
  • Maintain and evolve the media planning framework to reflect evolving HCP and patient behaviours, platform developments, and MSD’s therapeutic priorities

Digital Media Planning

  • Lead on digital channel planning across paid social, paid search, programmatic display, video, and emerging digital formats relevant to HCP and patient audiences
  • Apply a strong understanding of digital media dynamics — auction environments, audience segmentation, attribution models, and performance signals — to build effective plans
  • Partner with the Brand, Medical Affairs, and Digital Marketing teams to align media plans with campaign objectives, compliance requirements, and conversion goals

Offline Media Planning

  • Support planning across offline channels including medical journals, OOH, congresses, print, and broadcast where relevant to therapeutic area campaigns
  • Ensure offline media activity is planned in a way that complements and amplifies digital efforts
  • Apply reach, frequency, and impact thinking to offline planning with rigour and commercial awareness

Budget Management

  • Own and manage the media budget across channels, ensuring spend is allocated effectively and tracked accurately
  • Work closely with Finance, Procurement, and Marketing stakeholders to maintain budget hygiene, report on pacing, and flag risks or opportunities
  • Drive value from media investment through ongoing optimisation and negotiation with media partners and agencies

Performance & Insight

  • Lead weekly and monthly media performance reviews, translating data into clear insight and actionable recommendations
  • Define and monitor KPIs across the full funnel, from reach and brand metrics through to script lift, script volume, and HCP engagement rates
  • Work with Data & Analytics and agency partners to ensure robust measurement frameworks are in place

Stakeholder & Agency Coordination

  • Provide day-to-day coordination with internal media specialists and agency counterparts across markets
  • Coordinate with the offshore activation team to ensure plans are executed accurately, on time, and on budget
  • Act as the key media planning contact in cross-functional briefings, campaign reviews, and regulatory or MLR discussions involving media

What We're Looking For

  • 5–8 years in media planning, with a solid track record across digital and offline channels, ideally within a regulated or healthcare environment
  • Solid expertise in full-funnel media strategy and planning, ideally within a pharmaceutical, healthcare, or regulated consumer brand environment
  • Preferably hands-on experience with digital media channels — paid social (Meta, TikTok, Pinterest), paid search (Google, Bing), programmatic, and/or video
  • Experience working with or managing media agencies, as well as some exposure to in-house planning environments
  • Some experience guiding or mentoring junior team members

Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong media planning skills across the full funnel, with solid digital depth and working knowledge of offline channels in a regulated context
  • Strong budget management capability — comfortable owning significant media investment and making allocation decisions
  • Solid understanding of measurement and attribution, including multi-touch models, brand tracking, and performance metrics
  • Proficient in media planning tools and ad platforms; familiarity with Nielsen, GWI, Google Campaign Manager, or similar desirable
  • Strong communicator — able to present media plans and performance clearly to senior marketing, medical, and commercial stakeholders

Mindset

  • A hands-on practitioner who takes pride in the craft of great media planning
  • Analytically curious — always digging into what's working and why, and willing to challenge assumptions
  • Collaborative and organised, able to manage multiple campaigns and coordinate across onshore and offshore teams
  • Comfortable navigating complexity and adaptable to the evolving priorities of a global pharmaceutical company

What We Offer

  • A high-impact role with strong visibility across our client’s brand teams, regional leads, and global marketing organisation
  • The opportunity to shape full-funnel media planning across digital and offline channels at one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies
  • Competitive compensation package including bonus and benefits
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • A collaborative, inclusive environment that values innovation and sustainable thinking
