Role Description

We are seeking a full-time Writer cum Editor for an on-site position located in Singapore. The candidate should be ambitious, motivated, and result-oriented to be part of our dynamic publishing team. As a Writer cum Editor, your responsibilities may include interviewing would-be authors who have an interesting story to tell. The role may include a range of crucial tasks aimed at creating, editing and curating high-quality manuscripts to their highest potential. You will be expected to wield your writing and editorial prowess to craft, meticulously review and polish manuscripts, ensuring they adhere to our quality and accuracy standards. The goal is to provide exceptional, informative and engaging content to our targeted readers.

Responsibilities:

• Developing and/or editing manuscripts for content tone and language.
• Copy editing and copywriting across digital and print formats.
• Establish good working relationships with authors, clients and partners. 
• Writers will help authors to succeed with the latter's ideas and stories.
• Manage projects including liaising with stakeholders, authors, translators, graphic designers, printers to ensure timely project delivery and deadlines are met.
• Evaluate book ideas and assist in the planning of new titles.
• Ensure that the progress reports for all titles within his/her responsibility are updated and reported to the stakeholder(s) as appropriate.
• Collaborate with sales & marketing, logistics & warehouse, finance department to ensure a cohesive, viable and coordinated approach to publishing projects.
• Work on any ad hoc projects as and when required and assigned.
• Conducting in-depth research.
• Proofreading and refining manuscripts or articles.
• Contributing to company marketing initiatives.
• Alignment with our corporate objectives.

Qualifications

• At least 1-2 years of writing and/or editorial experience
• Degree in English Language/Mass Communications/Journalism and/or Postgraduate Diploma in Education
• Well-organized, meticulous and have strong initiative
• Possess strong and proven project management skills
• Able to deliver high-quality work under demanding deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Prior experience in educational/children/general/non-fiction publishing will be an advantage
• Experience in Research and crafting compelling narratives
• Basic understanding of Marketing and Communication principles
• Ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills
