About Gate
Founded in 2013, Gate is one of the world's leading cryptocurrency exchanges, serving over 50 million users globally and consistently ranked among the top 3 exchanges worldwide by liquidity and trading volume. We operate as a remote-first, globally distributed team — we hire for capability and ownership, not location, and we move at the speed the market demands.
Why This Role Exists Market makers, funds, and asset managers drive the majority of volume on any serious exchange, and the quality of the programs behind them — fee tiers, rebates, incentives, liquidity arrangements — is what decides whether that flow stays or moves. This role owns those programs end to end: designing them, modelling what they cost and return, and proving the impact with data. It sits at the centre of our institutional business, working directly with BD, RM, product, and risk as we scale.
What You'll Own Day-to-day operations for institutional clients — market makers, hedge funds, asset managers, proprietary trading firms, and brokers — including onboarding, documentation and material review, and fee tier assessment Design of liquidity programs and maker/taker fee rebate and incentive schemes — from structuring to launch to post-launch performance review Quantitative modelling of fee and incentive changes: simulate revenue and volume impact under different scenarios before decisions are made, and measure actual outcomes after Ongoing benchmarking of competitor fee schedules and incentive policies, with clear recommendations on where we should sit Reporting and dashboards on trading volume, liquidity contribution, and client-level revenue, so the business has a single reliable view of institutional performance Data-driven client targeting: working across large trading datasets to identify high-potential accounts and dormant or declining ones, and handing actionable lists to BD and RM Coordination with technical teams on colocation, API, and latency support for high-frequency trading clients
Who We're Looking For 3-6 years in market maker operations, institutional client operations, trading operations, or exchange business intelligence — crypto exchange experience strongly preferred; relevant experience from brokerage, derivatives, or traditional exchange environments will also be considered Direct experience working with institutional counterparties: market makers, funds, asset managers, or proprietary trading firms Genuinely hands-on with data: strong SQL and Excel modelling, comfortable with Tableau or equivalent BI tools, and able to build analysis directly from raw datasets rather than depending on a mature enterprise data stack Solid working knowledge of maker/taker fee models, rebate structures, order book liquidity metrics, and market making economics A track record of designing or running incentive programs where you can point to the measurable revenue or volume impact Structured communicator who can turn analysis into a recommendation a business leader can act on Fluent English; Mandarin an advantage given the client base Comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-moving, remote-first environment
Why This Role Is Worth Your Time This isn't a reporting seat. You'll be the person who decides what our institutional fee and incentive structure should look like, backs it with your own modelling, and then watches the volume move. You'll have direct visibility with institutional leadership, a client base that includes some of the most sophisticated trading firms in crypto, and the freedom to build the analytical foundation of this business the way it should be built — at one of the largest exchanges in the world.
