Our payment platform is scaling fast — more volume, more PSPs, more markets — and the data infrastructure needs to keep up. This is a 0-to-1 role: you won't be inheriting a polished stack. You'll be the one building it.

What You'll Build

Payment Data Infrastructure (from scratch)

• Design and build the core data platform hands-on: ingestion, transformation, and serving layers
• Model payment-domain data end-to-end — transactions, settlements, chargebacks, PSP fees, reconciliation
• Pick pragmatic solutions that work today and scale tomorrow; no over-engineering, no analysis paralysis

Scalable Pipelines

• Build and maintain reliable batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines handling high-volume payment events
• Own orchestration and transformation end-to-end — you write the code, you own the incidents
• Work across our stack for large-scale processing and unified analytics workflows
• Iterate fast: ship a working version, observe it in production, improve it — repeat

Data Governance & Trust

• Put quality checks, lineage, and schema contracts in place early — the kind of foundations that save the team pain later
• Define practical standards for PII handling without turning governance into bureaucracy
• Instrument pipelines with real observability: alerting, SLA tracking, anomaly detection

Leadership & Cross-functional Impact

• Mentor engineers across locations and drive engineering best practices
• Build alignment within a distributed team through standards and documentation
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions
• Translate ambiguous business needs into clear, executable outcomes

Who You Are

Core requirements

• 5+ years in data engineering, with meaningful hands-on experience in payments, fintech, or financial services
• You've taken data infrastructure from zero to production— designed, shipped, debugged, iterated
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, Airflow, and dbt; comfortable with a modern cloud DWH (Snowflake or BigQuery); Python and SQL are second nature - you write transformation logic yourself, not just review others'
• Comfortable mentoring distributed junior engineers with patience and structure
• You find solutions before finding excuses — ambiguity doesn't paralyse you

Strong plus

• Hands-on experiences on AI/LLM tooling — whether you've built ML feature pipelines, experimented with AI-assisted engineering, or just follow where the space is heading
• Solid grasp of at least one payment channel: card processing, bank transfers, e-wallets
