Job Responsibilities
IT System Management:
- Supervise the installation, maintenance, and operation of the factory's IT Systems, encompassing servers, networks connectivity (LAN, WAN, VPN, and Wireless), as well as other hardware systems such as PCs, and software systems.
- Design, deploy, and maintain factory IT infrastructure, including on-premises servers, cloud integrations, and edge computing devices. Ensure 24/7 availability of critical systems supporting factory operations, including MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), SCADA, and PLCs.
System Administration:
- Manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server 2022, and VMware environments for production and manufacturing systems. Maintain high availability and disaster recovery setups for essential factory applications.
- Coordinate the management and maintenance of these systems, including scheduling software updates, patches, and upgrades as necessary.
Containerization and Orchestration:
- Deploy containerized applications using Docker, ensuring compatibility with manufacturing systems. Set up and manage Kubernetes or OpenShift clusters for high-availability and scalability of factory workloads.
- Virtualization and Cloud Integration: Administer VMware vSphere/ESXi for server consolidation and efficient resource utilization. Work with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or private cloud) to integrate hybrid solutions for manufacturing workflows.
- Automation and DevOps: Develop automation scripts for routine tasks using Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools. Create CI/CD pipelines for rapid deployment of updates and patches in manufacturing software systems.
- Factory Systems Support: Support and maintain critical factory applications, including MES, ERP (e.g., SAP or NetSuite), and SCADA systems. Collaborate with production teams to integrate and test new manufacturing technologies, ensuring seamless operation.
Data Management and Analytics:
- Implement and manage robust data pipelines using the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for real-time monitoring, analytics, and anomaly detection. Work with OT (Operational Technology) teams to centralize machine data logs for predictive maintenance and process optimization.
Cybersecurity:
- Implement and oversee cybersecurity measures to safeguard the facility's IT systems from threats and vulnerabilities.
- Conduct routine security assessments and audits to detect and address risks effectively.
- Harden IT systems with SELinux, firewalls, and secure authentication mechanisms. Collaborate with IT Security teams to enforce NIST, ISO 27001, and IEC 62443 standards specific to manufacturing. Ensure secure communication between OT and IT environments, addressing potential risks in IIoT deployments.
Data Management and Backup:
- Ensure data integrity, availability, and security by implementing robust data management practices, reliable backup systems, and effective disaster recovery solutions.
Technical Support:
- Offer technical support and troubleshoot IT-related issues for all employees and contractors, ensuring swift resolution to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Act as the escalation point for resolving high-priority issues in IT and OT systems. Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring problems and implement preventive measures.
Project Management:
- Manage IT projects from inception through to successful completion, adhering to specified timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that IT systems and practices adhere to pertinent industry standards, regulations, and data protection laws.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including the creation and upkeep of operational manuals, and conduct regular audits to verify and maintain compliance.
Perform any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Manager, as required to support the team and organizational goals.
Job Requirements
Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Certifications such as RHCSA/RHCE (Red Hat), VCP (VMware Certified Professional), Docker Certified Associate, Elastic Certified Engineer, or Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator are strongly.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server 2022, and VMware ecosystems.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized application deployment.
- Expertise in using Elastic Stack for log management and performance analytics.
- Familiarity with MES platforms like Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FactoryTalk, or Dassault DELMIA. Knowledge of OT protocols (e.g., OPC-UA, Modbus) and integration with IT systems.
Competencies:
- User requirements gathering skills.
- Proficient in scripting and automation using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- understanding of real-time system performance tuning for factory operations.
- Ability to implement network segmentation and configure firewalls for securing IT-OT convergence.
Others:
- Experience in managing IT systems within smart factories or Industry 4.0 environments.
- Knowledge of robotics systems, IIoT device management, or predictive maintenance tools. Familiarity with compliance standards like GDPR, CMMC, and HIPAA for regulated manufacturing industries.
