Akron General's 5100 Unit is a post-op urology, gynecology/oncology and plastics unit that provides care to diverse populations of patients. This team of caregivers pride themselves on providing top-quality and patient-centered care all while ensuring the safety of their patients. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

  • Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. 

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM - 7:30AM, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide nursing care based on patient-centered outcomes and standards of care based on current research and evidence-based practice. 

  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients' conditions.  

  • Safely administer patient care and treatments in accordance with the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice and institutional policy. 

  • Safely administer medications in accordance with the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice and institutional policy  

  • Involve the patient and family (or designee) in developing a plan of care individualized to patient cultural, religious and educational needs. 

  • Participate in on-going interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes and contribute to the improvement of care.  

  • Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program) 

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
