[upbeat music] We are the first person that the patient sees when they come in. Our role as patient service Specialist is to help them know that they're in a safe place. Their experience here as a patient is gonna be a positive one.
I wanted to work for Cleveland Clinic doing something so I could impact the people in my own community. Knowing Cleveland Clinic is very reputable.
I thought this would just be a great organization to be the best caregiver that I could be here. It's just very important for us to be kind and willing to help them as soon as they come in the door, because you never know what a person is going through in life.
If there's a patient sitting at their desk that is going through a really tough time, we can somehow step into their shoes and offer some comfort. We make sure the patients are checked in. We also do checkout and scheduling for them.
We can help direct them to whatever floor they're gonna be going to as well. If they're in a a wheelchair, we can just help bring them directly to their providers. It means managing the patient satisfaction as they enter the door.
I would say that anyone who has a caring spirit would certainly be qualified for this role. After you apply, they do training for you, how to work the system, how to get the patient scheduled, the registration part, the checking in. What
I love about the training here specifically is that we utilize a lot of peer training. Being able to work alongside other fellow caregivers who've been here longer and learn from their expertise has been very invaluable for me. Working here and seeing the interaction with the doctors and the nurses with the patients, it just makes me feel like
I can do so much more. This role here can certainly be a launching pad to other careers here with Cleveland Clinic, but I would certainly say that the role in itself is very rewarding.
It's great starting off as a PSS because you get a little bit of everything. I certainly see that our role as being very essential and very beneficial for the patient experience here. There's certainly a sense of pride working for Cleveland Clinic because anytime you put on a uniform or put on your badge, you know that it is attached to this high level of care that we seek to provide here.
I feel like we're part of the whole team of caregiving, so I enjoy working here. At the heart of it all, if you're someone who just loves people and wants to care for them and wants to see that their needs are met, then this role is probably for you.
