Optical Network Specialist

Work location : 5 days week at Raffles Place

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with teams to improve service delivery and troubleshoot optical network issues
• Troubleshoot optical devices (e.g. Ciena 6500, Infinera GX40) in various settings
• Handle dark fiber maintenance and respond to queries from Outdoor Plant Services
• Resolve software and hardware issues with multiple vendors
• Support team in handling incidents like hardware failure, power outages, and fiber events
• Coordinate with vendors and smart hands to resolve issues and restore service
• Work with ISPs/vendors to fix network issues (e.g. RMA process, fiber repair)
• Analyze OTDR test results and perform fault isolation
• Monitor and troubleshoot Optical Long Haul and Metro networks
• Escalate critical events and communicate clearly with internal teams
• Document and optimize operational processes and procedures
• Create monitors, alerts, and dashboards to drive improvements

Required Qualifications/Skills:

• Bachelors degree and 2-5 years of related experience
• Understanding of fiber-optic technology and optical transport technologies
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with global service providers
• Knowledge of:
  • ROADM, coherent transponders, and long-haul optical networks
  • Optical layer traffic reliability configurations
  • DWDM devices and CLI commands
  • Dark fiber testing and light level testing
  • Networking protocols

What Youll Do:

• Work cross-functionally with internal teams and vendors
• Manage and escalate critical events
• Contribute to process improvements and documentation
• Some weekend work may be required.
