The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of our environmental testing services. This role ensures that all laboratory and field testing activities are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards. The Operations Manager will lead teams, manage resources, and drive quality and performance improvements to support client satisfaction and company growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations across laboratory testing, field sampling, logistics, and client services.
  • Ensure all testing services (air, water, soil, hazardous materials) meet industry and regulatory standards (EPA, OSHA, ISO 17025, etc.).
  • Manage staffing schedules, equipment utilization, and project timelines to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Own quality performance of the laboratory, identify risks and implement and maintain quality control systems
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to track productivity, turnaround times, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with business development and client services teams to align operational capacity with client needs and project scopes.
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory, and maintenance of sampling and lab equipment.
  • Support accreditation and audit readiness efforts through consistent documentation and process control.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of technicians, analysts, and support staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field; Masters preferred.
  • 5+ years of operations or lab management experience, ideally in environmental testing or a scientific services industry.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and laboratory standards (e.g., EPA methods, NELAC, ISO 17025).
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with LIMS, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Combination of office, lab, and field environments.
  • Occasional travel to client sites, field locations, or company branches.
