Role Overview Reporting to the General Manager, as a Marine Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of assigned tanker vessels in adherence to international regulations, industry standards, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee vessel operations to ensure safe navigation, cargo handling, and compliance with international conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, MLC, ISM Code, ISPS Code).
  • Implement and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) onboard.
  • Conduct shipboard audits for ISM and ISPS compliance.
  • Monitor vessel cargo operations, navigation activities, and vessel performance KPIs.
  • Management of day-to-day ship operations, safety and health.
  • Prepare vessels for inspections (Oil Major Vetting, PSC, Flag State, and Charterers inspections) and coordinate scheduling.
  • Supervise emergency response drills and procedures, ensuring crew readiness.
  • Monitor and support vessel compliance with environmental regulations (pollution prevention, ballast water management).
  • Implement preventive measures against marine casualty and pollution.
  • Analyze operational data to optimize vessel performance and efficiency.
  • Assist in overseeing insurance and P&I matters.
  • Promote continuous improvement by providing feedback on risks, hazards, and new technologies.
  • Foster professional relationships with vessel owners, charterers, Class societies, and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage operational budgets effectively without compromising safety or quality.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, SIRE 2.0, Flag State requirements including Japan and U.S.).
  • Proficiency with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards as applied in the marine industry.
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to motivate and guide vessel crews toward operational excellence.
  • Proficient in liaising with multiple stakeholders including owners, charterers, Class, and Flag administrations.
  • Should be a team player.

Qualifications:

  • Master Mariner (Unlimited Class 1 Certificate of Competency).

Experience:

  • Significant sea-going experience on oil tankers.
  • Experience on LNG, LPG or Gas carriers is highly desirable.
