Engineering Director

Position Summary

The Director of Engineering is responsible for leading the digital engineering strategy and execution across the companys operations. This role focuses on driving operations innovation through advanced manufacturing technologies, industrial automation, smart factory initiatives, and integrated digital platforms. The Director ensures engineering teams are aligned with the organizations digital roadmap and operational goals, contributing to improved efficiency, product quality, and cost competitiveness, and leads cross-functional teams to develop, launch, and manage digital solutions that enhance customer experience, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.

Job Responsibilities

1. Strategy & Leadership:

• Develop and execute the engineering technology roadmap aligned with the companys digital transformation strategy.

• Collaborate closely with the CIO to integrate IT and operational technologies (OT) within operationssystems.

• Lead cross-functional engineering teams, including automation, controls, digital engineering, and operationssystems.

• Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

2. Digital Transformation & Smart Manufacturing:

• Oversee implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies, including IoT, robotics, AI/ML in production, digital twins, and predictive maintenance.

• Drive adoption of digital tools like MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), and ERP integrations.

• Champion data-driven decision-making using real-time manufacturing analytics.

3. Product Development & Innovation:

• Drive development of connected products, digital services, customer self-service portals, and data-driven business models.

• Translate business needs into product requirements and ensure timely delivery with agile teams.

4. Cross-functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with Engineering, IT, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Customer Support to deliver integrated product solutions.

• Coordinate with cybersecurity, data governance, and IT infrastructure teams to ensure secure and scalable products.

• Ensure seamless integration of products with back-end systems like ERP, CRM, MES, and analytics platforms.

5. Customer Experience & Value Delivery:

• Champion user-centric design, usability, and adoption for all digital products.

• Use analytics and customer feedback to drive continuous product improvement.

6. Operational Excellence:

• Ensure engineering practices comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

• Partner with Operations, Quality, and IT teams to optimize processes and enable scalable, smart manufacturing capabilities.

• Lead engineering project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and vendor management.

7. Team Development:

• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering team.

• Identify skill gaps and support continuous learning in areas such as automation, data analytics, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field); Masters degree or MBA preferred.

• Minimum 10 years of engineering leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Proven track record in deploying digital manufacturing solutions and integrating IT/OT systems.

• Strong understanding of agile methodologies, product discovery, and digital platform development.

• Strong background in automation, controls, industrial systems, and digital engineering tools.

• Deep understanding of smart factory and Industry 4.0 technologies.

• Strategic thinking with hands-on experience in system architecture and project delivery.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills to align stakeholders across business and IT.

• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Figma, Cloud DevOps, or similar, and cybersecurity practices.
