Business Development Director

Role Overview

We are seeking a strategic and execution-oriented Development Director to drive the growth of key business verticals, including data centers . This role will be responsible for opportunity evaluation, client negotiations, cross-functional collaboration, and working with government agencies to deliver high-value development projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Market Expansion

  • Formulate and execute the global business development roadmap with the CEO and senior leadership.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, markets, and partnerships across Southeast Asia and other target regions.
  • Drive high-level strategic initiatives including joint ventures, M&A opportunities, and long-term investments.
  • Track market intelligence, economic trends, competitor movements, and policy shifts to inform strategic positioning.
  • Advise the Board and CEO on capital deployment and market-entry strategies.

Specific to Data Centers:

  • Lead the expansion of the data center vertical , including opportunity evaluation, demand mapping, and strategic planning.
  • Conduct due diligence, feasibility studies, and business case development for new data center sites.

2. Revenue Growth & Commercial Performance

  • Oversee revenue generation strategies and drive profitability across business lines.
  • Lead negotiations and close multi-million-dollar development and lease agreements.
  • Define and monitor KPIs to evaluate the success of regional business development activities.
  • Lead budget planning and forecast ROI for commercial initiatives.

Specific to Data Centers:

  • Structure and close data center tenancy deals, including power-intensive facility leases and build-to-suit developments.
  • Develop partnerships with hyperscalers , colocation providers, and digital infrastructure clients.

3. Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with C-suite executives, institutional investors, and strategic partners.
  • Develop client retention and engagement strategies aligned with value creation.
  • Represent Equalbase at industry conferences, panels, and business councils.

Specific to Data Centers:

  • Collaborate with regulatory authorities and utility providers to ensure power and compliance approvals.
  • Support interactions with local and federal government agencies to facilitate land acquisition , zoning clearance , and incentive discussions for digital infrastructure projects.

4. Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor a regional business development team with clear targets and success metrics.
  • Ensure collaboration across departments: project development, finance, legal, ESG, and marketing.
  • Drive inter-departmental feasibility reviews to ensure project delivery timelines and client satisfaction.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Specific to Data Centers:

  • Set up and support an internal cross-functional task force for the data center vertical, aligning technical, environmental, and client-side inputs.
