Why Join Us: At BIT, we tackle complex problems as a team. We encourage openness and promote transparency, respect, and inclusivity. Every team member is valued and has a voice that can be heard. We are always in search of intellectually curious and entrepreneurial individuals who are keen on making an impact in the crypto ecosystem and in building a better product for the next one billion users.
About the role:
The Group has substantive operations and tax filing obligations across multiple jurisdictions in Asia (including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand), Europe, and select offshore/holding jurisdictions. Scope covers corporate income tax, indirect tax (GST/VAT/SST), withholding tax, and transfer pricing.
Given the Group's digital asset business, exposure to the tax treatment of crypto/digital asset transactions (e.g. lending/borrowing, custody, trading) is highly relevant and a strong differentiator.
Key Responsibilities:
Own tax compliance matters across the Group (tax filings, provisions, tax audits, WHT, GST/indirect tax), ensuring timely and accurate filings across all jurisdictions;
Lead the development and maintenance of the Group's tax risk register, tax standards, and related governance documentation, and support their endorsement by senior management;
Assess uncertain tax positions for Group financial reporting purposes;
Manage transfer pricing matters across the Group, including preparing/reviewing TP documentation (Master File, Local Files), and defending TP policies under audit or review;
Analyse withholding tax exposure across cross-border intercompany transactions (financing, licensing, services) spanning multiple jurisdictions;
Draft clear, actionable tax positions and guidance for business stakeholders, and lead internal training/education sessions to build tax awareness across Finance and business teams;
Liaise directly with internal stakeholders and external advisers (Big 4 and other tax advisers) on technical and compliance matters;
Support ad hoc tax input into new business/product set-up, process improvements, and where relevant corporate transactions (e.g. restructuring, IPO readiness).
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or related field, with relevant professional accreditation (e.g. ATA by SCTP);
10-12 years of relevant tax experience,
with financial services tax experience strongly preferred;
Strong technical grounding across direct tax, indirect tax, and transfer pricing, with a demonstrated track record of applying this across multiple jurisdictions and complex group structures;
Experience with international transfer pricing (documentation, policy design, defence under audit) in a cross-border, multi-entity environment;
Experience building or maintaining tax governance frameworks (tax standards, risk registers, SOPs) is a strong plus;
Familiarity with cross-border information reporting regimes (FATCA/CRS/CARF) is a plus;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical tax positions into practical guidance for non-tax stakeholders;
Strong analytical skills with keen attention to both detail and the bigger picture;
Self-starter, comfortable operating with ambiguity in a fast-paced, start-up-like environment;
Able to work independently while also being a collaborative, responsible team player.
