Job Description

The Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (ALCNS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking candidates to apply for the role of Research Fellow within its Research Programmes. ALCNS is committed to its vision, 'Inspiring Health for All', and its mission to empower nurses to champion health for all by excelling in nursing education, fostering innovative research, and serving with compassion and humility.

The school hosts five key research programmes: Chronic Illness and Long-term Care, Education Innovation, Geriatric Care and Wellness, Patient Safety and Quality Care, and Women and Children Health Care. The selected candidates will be offered a contract position for a duration of one to two years, with an opportunity for renewal based on performance and funding availability

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Fellow will be able to:

  1. conduct independent and collaborative research in one of our research programmes, under the supervision of senior faculty mentors;
  2. develop and implement research projects, including study design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation;
  3. publish research findings in high impact peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences and seminars;
  4. contribute to the development of grant proposals to secure funding for research projects;
  5. assist in the supervision and mentorship of honor and graduate students involved in research activities;
  6. contribute to the dissemination of research findings to the broader community through outreach activities, including public lectures or community engagement initiatives;
  7. participate in departmental meetings, research seminars, and other academic activities to contribute to the scholarly environment of ALCNS.
Qualifications

The applicant should have:

  1. a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Nursing or a related field from an accredited institution;
  2. a strong background and expertise in nursing or health-related research;
  3. a track record of scholarly productivity, including publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals;
  4. experience in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies;
  5. ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment;
  6. excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  7. prior experience in grant writing (securing external funding is an advantage).
