Senior Director, Manufacturing, Logistics and Operational Excellence
Singapore | Confidential Search | Axentia Global
The Organisation
Our client is a US-headquartered global technology company operating at the heart of critical digital infrastructure. Their products and systems underpin the data centres, communication networks, and industrial environments that the modern economy depends on. They operate in more than 100 countries, and they are scaling their operational infrastructure to match a period of significant commercial growth.
The Mandate
This role brings together three functions that most organisations keep apart. Manufacturing. Logistics. Operational Excellence. Our client has deliberately unified them under a single leader because they have concluded, correctly, that none of these functions can deliver at their potential while operating in isolation.
The role reports directly to the Executive Vice President, Manufacturing, Logistics and Operational Excellence, based in the United States.
The scope is uneven by design, and it matters that candidates understand this clearly. Manufacturing accountability is regional, covering Asia Pacific. Logistics accountability is global, spanning inbound and outbound movement across every region the company operates in.
Operational Excellence is enterprise-wide, touching every site and every function in the network.
This is not a regional role dressed up with a global title. Two of its three pillars are genuinely worldwide.
The person in this seat will work directly across all regions, all lines of business, and closely with finance and procurement, with a single organising purpose.
To improve how the company leverages its global manufacturing and logistics footprint and to make operational excellence a lived discipline rather than a corporate programme.
The Four Dimensions of the Role
Manufacturing Leadership, Asia Pacific
Own manufacturing performance across the APAC region. Set and hold the standard for safety, quality, cost, delivery, and output across all sites. Build a plant leadership community that operates with genuine consistency, regardless of which market a site sits in. Asia Pacific is a complex manufacturing environment with real differences in labour markets, supplier ecosystems, and regulatory conditions between countries. This leader needs to understand those differences and still drive uniform performance standards across them.
Global Logistics, Inbound and Outbound
Take full global ownership of logistics movement. This covers inbound materials flow from the supply base and outbound finished goods distribution to customers, across every region. At the scale of a business operating in over 130 countries, this is a network design challenge as much as an operational one. Freight economics, trade flow structuring, lead time compression, network optimisation, and supplier logistics performance all sit here. The business expects this leader to fundamentally improve how goods move, not simply to keep them moving.
Operational Excellence, Enterprise-Wide
Lead the operational excellence agenda across the entire organisation. The client is explicit that this requires equal command of two disciplines. Traditional Lean and Six Sigma rigour, deployed with real methodological depth. And Industry 4.0 capability, meaning digital operations, connected manufacturing, data-driven decision making, and automation strategy.
Most candidates are strong in one and passable in the other. The client wants someone genuinely credible in both, and capable of judging which lever applies to which site based on its actual maturity rather than applying a single template everywhere.
This is not a programme office brief. The expectation is embedded cultural change, structured problem solving at every level of the organisation, and measurable cost and efficiency delivery year on year.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Work as a peer to regional leadership teams, business line leaders, finance, and procurement. Operational strategy in a business of this complexity does not survive without commercial alignment. The successful candidate will be as comfortable defending a capital case in a finance review as they are diagnosing a bottleneck on a plant floor.
The Candidate
The right person for this role has built a career across manufacturing and supply chain operations with genuine, demonstrable depth in operational excellence. Not someone who has specialised in one pillar and been adjacent to the others. Someone who has led across all three and understands how they connect.
Multi-site manufacturing leadership at senior level is essential. The candidate must have carried real accountability for operational outcomes across multiple plants, not oversight of a programme or a functional support role.
Global logistics experience covering both inbound and outbound movement at scale. Understanding of trade flows, network design, freight strategy, and the practical realities of moving product across Asia Pacific and into and out of every other major region.
Deep operational excellence capability across both Lean and Six Sigma and digital operations. This is a core requirement. The client will test for methodological depth, not familiarity. Black Belt or equivalent formal credentials are welcomed but the substance of what the candidate has actually delivered matters more than the certification.
Experience operating inside a US-headquartered multinational matrix. The reporting line runs to an EVP in a different time zone. This role demands someone who can operate with real autonomy while keeping alignment strong upward and laterally. Candidates who have only worked in structures where the decision maker sits down the corridor will find this a significant adjustment.
High technology, critical infrastructure, electronics, or complex industrial manufacturing background strongly preferred. The technical and commercial pace of this environment is not comparable to slower-cycle industries.
Executive presence and the ability to influence without authority. Much of what this role needs to achieve will be delivered through regions and functions that do not report into it. Credibility is the operating currency here.
Compensation.
Base salary SGD 330,000
Performance bonus 30 to 40% of base
Full executive benefits package. There is limited room of negotation on the budget.
