Fortune Live Media: Editorial Producer (Contract Role)

Location: Remote (Applicants in APAC or EMEA region preferred)

Retainer Period: 1 September 2026 – 1 May 2027

OVERVIEW:

Fortune is seeking an Editorial Producer for a high-level convening of business and policy leaders taking place in the APAC region in 2027.

The Producer will provide booking, research and writing support in early stages of program development and then shift to mid-stage and on-site session producer for pre-assigned mainstage and breakout sessions. The remit is to develop compelling, news-worthy sessions that inform, inspire and/or provide key takeaways for attendees.

The position will report to the event’s Program Director and to Fortune’s Executive Director, Global Programming, working alongside other editorial producers and other support staff.

WORK SCOPE:

Pre-Event Execution

Assist with booking, program research, development, and strategy:

  • Participate in weekly program team meetings and related calls.
  • Collaborate with program director, event co-chairs, and editors to define and set content parameters for all sessions.
  • Assist program director with development and writing of program overview documents including content pillars, mainstage program themes, and sample breakout session abstracts.
  • Assist program director with booking and content development to include:
  • Researching session topics, data points, and background information on confirmed speakers and/or sessions.
  • Writing and/or re-writing concise, news-driven session abstracts.
  • Meeting regularly with client services team and event sponsors to discuss session content, format, and provide session updates.
  • Developing all session formats and ROS.
  • Writing session titles and abstracts for inclusion in agendas, marketing, and other promotional materials.
  • Identifying and inviting approved speakers and ensuring all speaker information and contacts are uploaded to speaker tracker.
  • Participating in speaker pitch, pre-interview, or prep calls.
  • Coordinating speaker production elements with speakers and production team to include:
  • Liaising with production team on rehearsals for breakout speaker presentations or demos (as needed).
  • Working closely with the program director and other team members to ensure speakers and/or sponsors are fully prepped for sessions and any relevant program elements are in-sync with production ROS.
  • Manage session editorial preparation for all assigned sessions to include:
  • Research specific angles and editorial alignment opportunities for each session to hone focus, key outcomes, and news value.
  • Collaborate with speakers to determine if any elements (video, audio, images, etc.) will be used for each session:
  • Collect all applicable visual elements for each session from speakers and/or external sources.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment around all visual elements in program:
  • Provide instruction to Fortune Video editor(s) on video edits (if applicable).
  • Review all visual elements or staging needs with Production Manager on an ongoing basis to ensure quality control.
  • Connect with FLM Production Manager to finalize all visual elements:
  • Ensure elements are organized and delivered to production team by deadlines.
  • Attend virtual Production/Programming Sync meeting (upon request).
  • Oversee preparation and delivery of speaker and moderator briefing/confirmation documents for all assigned sessions, including ROS, research, editorial talking points, and/or accompanying production elements:
  • For Moderator Briefings:
  • Insert talking points.
  • Insert relevant production cues and visual element instructions (i.e.: presentation/slide decks, graphics, videos, or physical demonstration items):
  • Insert research and relevant news articles, data points, or key facts.
  • Write session scripts/host remarks for assigned breakout sessions.
  • For Speaker Briefings:
  • Insert talking points.
  • Insert any notes regarding elements, production cues and/or ROS.
  • Participate in final speaker/moderator prep calls.

On-Site Execution:

In collaboration with program director and support team, manage program execution on-site to include:

  • Review all confirmed speaker pronunciations and speaker titles to ensure consistency across all production materials, scripts, and title slides/graphics.
  • Participate in all on-site staff and production meetings.
  • Green room support to include speaker greeting, traffic management, and speaker wrangling.
  • Breakout session proctoring and/or room monitoring.

Post-Event Execution:

  • Deliver post-event evaluations and recommendations through debrief meetings and written reports, including content analysis and key takeaways.
  • Send necessary follow-up correspondence to speakers.
  • Finalize internal docs and materials (speaker tracking documents and other ancillary files) for archives.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in live journalism, television news programming, conferences, and/or high level convenings.
  • Demonstrated experience producing content and/or booking speakers for high-profile events involving public and private sector officials.
  • Excellent research and writing skills, with ability to quickly synthesize information and develop news-making session content.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and attention to detail in handling sensitive information and high-visibility engagements.
  • Ability to manage teams across multiple workstreams and meet deadlines in a fast-paced events environment.
  • Willingness to travel and work outside standard business hours as event schedules require.
