The Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be the chief architect of organisation global tax strategy to support it's rapid global expansion. You will partner directly with the C-suite to navigate complex cross-border structures, optimize our global tax footprint, and ensure that our rapid growth is built on a foundation of world-class governance

Key Responsibilities:

Build Global Tax Function & Governance

  • Define and drive the Group’s tax strategy and governance framework; establish the global tax operating model and annual compliance calendar.
  • Build tax policies, processes, and internal controls (Tax Controls), including a tax risk register, key controls, documentation retention standards, and global consistency in execution.

Oversee Global Tax Compliance

  • Oversee timely, accurate, and audit-ready filings and payments for corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding tax (WHT), and other relevant taxes across all jurisdictions.
  • Manage and review deliverables from external tax advisors/accounting firms in each jurisdiction; validate key tax positions and filing approaches.

Tax Strategy & Tax Burden Management (ETR / Forecasting / Decision Support)

  • Establish a group-wide tax burden management framework: maintain tax models and effective tax rate (ETR) forecasting to support annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and major scenario analyses.
  • Evaluate the tax impact and risks of significant business decisions (new products/markets, key contracts, financing/equity arrangements, etc.), and provide management with actionable recommendations and trade-off analysis.

International Tax, Transfer Pricing & Group Structure Optimization (Including Tax Incentives)

  • Lead international tax initiatives and execution: transfer pricing (TP) policies and pricing governance, intercompany agreements, and relevant documentation (e.g., Local File/Master File where applicable).
  • Manage cross-border tax matters including WHT planning, treaty analyses, and tax treatment of cross-border service/technical fees; identify and mitigate Permanent Establishment (PE) risks.
  • Drive entity and transaction structure optimization within business and regulatory boundaries (entity footprint, cross-border cash/fee flows, IP/service arrangements, etc.); assess tax implications of reorganizations and deliver executable plans.
  • Identify and evaluate applicable tax incentives/relief programs across jurisdictions (exemptions, deductions, grants, R&D-related incentives, etc.); define application pathways, required materials, timelines, and ensure ongoing compliance after approval.

Tax Risk Management, Audits & Controversy

  • Lead tax audits, inquiries, and dispute resolution across jurisdictions; establish consistent audit response playbooks, documentation standards, and external communication positions.
  • Proactively identify potential tax exposures and impacts from regulatory/policy changes; drive mitigation actions and provide regular updates to senior management.

Business Partnering & Senior Stakeholder Communication

  • Partner with Finance, Legal, and business leaders to support new product launches, market expansion, entity setup/changes, key contracts, and equity/M&A transactions with tax assessments and recommend
  • ations.Report key tax matters, risks, and opportunities to senior management; ensure tax perspectives are incorporated into strategic decision-making with clear follow-through.

Team Building & External Resource Management

  • Expand and lead the global tax team, define roles and operating cadence, and elevate team capability and delivery standards.
  • Manage external advisors and transfer pricing specialists to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or related fields; professional qualifications such as CPA/ACCA/CA/CTA are a plus.
  • 10–15+ years of progressive tax experience with significant international / multi-jurisdiction exposure; experience as the international tax lead / Head of Tax is preferred. A combination of in-house taxation experience and professional services background isdesired.
  • Strong technical expertise across corporate income tax, VAT/GST, WHT, and transfer pricing; ability to independently navigate complex cross-border scenarios and drive execution.
  • Proven track record in building tax governance/internal controls, managing risks, and coordinating external advisors in fast-growing environments.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and complex project management skills; fluent English and Mandarin Chinese is required to work with stakeholders across Great China and other regions.
  • Strong ownership mindset and execution capability; ability to deliver results independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in fintech, brokerage/broker-dealer, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Track record of managing tax audits and engaging with tax authorities across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience leading tax structuring for cross-border reorganizations, M&A, and other major transactions end-to-end.
