Job Description & Requirements Job Responsibilities- IP Advisory & Prosecution: Manage clients trademark portfolios, including filing, prosecuting, and maintaining trademark applications up to grant.
- IP Advisory & Prosecution: Coordinate international trademark filings and ensure compliance with global IP regulations, with particular focus on China.
- IP Advisory & Prosecution: Advise clients on IP strategies, courses of action, and associated costs.
- IP Advisory & Prosecution: Review Examination Reports and draft responses to Office Actions.
- IP Advisory & Prosecution: Conduct trademark searches and provide clear, actionable opinions to clients.
- IP Advisory & Prosecution: Update, maintain, and monitor deadlines for file-related matters.
- IP Advisory & Prosecution: Generate standard correspondence, draft invoices, and handle ad hoc tasks.
- IP Advisory & Prosecution: Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Business Development: Actively support and drive business development initiatives targeting the Chinese market, strengthening relationships with Chinese-speaking clients and associates.
- Business Development: Identify, initiate, and pursue business opportunities in Greater China, including organizing events, webinars, or collaborations with local IP firms to increase the firms market visibility.
- Business Development: Participate in marketing activities to promote the firms IP services.
- Business Development: Travel as needed for client meetings, industry events, or cross-border collaboration, particularly related to the Chinese market.
- Business Development: Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Education: Degree in Law or completion of the Certificate of Intellectual Property (GCIP) course. Postgraduate qualifications (e.g., law degree) or relevant industry experience are advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in trademark prosecution. Experience or familiarity with the Chinese trademark system, including working knowledge of CNIPA processes, would be highly advantageous.
- Language: Proficiency in English (verbal and written) is required. Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) is highly preferred to support multilingual client engagements.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, particularly with experience engaging stakeholders based in China.
- Organizational: Excellent organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Work Style: Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Systems: Familiarity with IP portfolio management systems (e.g., WebTMS, IPfolio, DIAMS) is preferred.
- Mindset: Resourceful problem-solver with a collaborative mindset and positive attitude.
- Growth: Interest in contributing to practice growth and client relationship management.
- Leadership: Clear pathway to leadership roles.
- Practice Development: Opportunities to engage in regional and international IP practice development, particularly within the Greater China region.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with teams in Jakarta and report to Singaporean management.
